Nominated for the History Week Prize!

The National Liberation Museum 1944-1945 is proud to have been nominated by the jury of the History Week for the History Week Prize. The theme of the History Week (running from October 17-25) is ‘War & Peace’.

The organisation able to captivate a wide public’s attention for history will be rewarded the History Week Prize.

Why have we been nominated?
On Sunday October 18th the museum is planning a Lily Marlene Day, an ode to the greatest hit of WW2. On this special day we tell the real story behind Lili Marlene. Who was she? And why did this song become so popular with both Germans and allies in WW2? After a lecture whereby also other variations of this song are discussed and a documentary about Marlene Dietrich’s life, you will know everything about Lili Marlene. Afterwards you can listen to a live-band in the ‘Lily Marlene Café’. For the grand finale 'Marlene Dietrich' will be performing in the exhibition ‘Love in wartime’ accompanied by a pianist.

During that week we will also draw attention to another myth.
On Sunday October 25th it is the Swedish White Bread Day. How did the Dutch people get this bread? Of course you can also taste this bread.
