Now is playing: The games must go on
24-11-2009
Exhibition ‘The games must go on…..’ The exhibition ‘The games must go on …… Olympic Games, politics and human rights’ is on show in the National Liberation Museum 1944-1945 from November 19th 2009 till March 31th 2010. The exhibition will be opened by mrs. Erica Terpstra in her function as chairwoman of the NOC/NSF. She will also be giving a lecture from 1:15-1:45 pm. The exhibition shows the two sides of a medal: on the one side the athletic beauty of the Olympic Games, on the other side a retrospective view of the strained relations between sport, politics and human rights. Also for the sportsfans the exhibition is a must. The sporting performances of the Dutch athletes and the final winners in 1936 will be given ample attention.
During the exhibition period a selection of historical images will be shown in the Education Room of the museum and sports and human rights will also be combined in lectures. Among others mrs. Bettine Vriesekoop will give a lecture on December 13th at 2 pm about the sporting and human elements of the Olympic games in Beijing.
