April 10 and 11: National Museum Weekend 'Temptation'
National Museum Weekend with the theme 'Temptation'. Special all-day programme for all age-groups. 30% Reduced admission-fee. |
April 23-May 9: Operation Bullet-proof
Interactive exhibition for children from 10-14 years. The children are playfully invited to wear a soldier's boots. |
April 28: Anne Frank
Showing of the film 'The short life of Anne Frank' for children from 10-15 years. Subsequently the children visit the exhibition whereby subjects as going into hiding and war diaries are discussed. Programme from 2-4 pm. |
May 2-5: The Liberation Museum on air!
Demonstration of war time transmitting and receiving equipment. Great show-pieces of communication devices of the '40's. Non-stop daily outdoor programme on the museum grounds. |
May 3: Special commemoration Canadian War Cemetary Groesbeek
Special commemoration at the Canadian War Cemetary Groesbeek at 2 pm in remembrance of the liberation 65 years ago.
Please note that the Zevenheuvelenweg will be closed for all traffic from 9-6.30 pm. The Wylerbaan, the Nijmeegsebaan and the Nieuweweg will remain open for traffic.

May 4: National Memorial Day
Commemoration ceremony at the Canadian War Cemetary Groesbeek preceeded by a silent march at 7 pm to the Canadian War Cemetary from the town hall in Groesbeek with 1700 Canadian students and the Memorial Obelisk in Berg en Dal. Afterwards a gathering at the Liberation Museum. |
May 4: Canadian students visit Groesbeek
1700 Canadian students visit the Liberation Museum at Groesbeek. On the grounds of the museum there is a static show of WW2 vehicules and a demonstration of receiving and transmitting equipment of that period. The Canadian students will also participate in the silent march to the Canadian War Cemetary in the evening. |
May 5: National Liberation Day
Festive programme from 10-5 pm in and around the museum with a.o. music and film. Also a children's programme with a quest. |
May 8: Capitulation of Germany
Final end of WW2. Filmprogramme 'Anonyma: eine Frau in Berlin' from 10 a.m. onwards. |
May 9: Europe Day
Special lecture at 2 pm about the start of the European unification after WW2. |
July 25: Cycling without a parachute
Bicycle-tour from 12-5 pm through the landing areas of Operation Market Garden at Groesbeek. Length of tour 20 km. Costs € 9,50 (reservations required). |
July 28: Spy-training
Follow an emergency-course how to become a spy. Children's programme from 2-4 pm on spying and cryptography in war time. Suitable for age-group 6-12. Reservations required. |
August 1, 8, 15: Cycling without a parachute

Non-stop film programme from 2-4 pm for kids from 8-15 years old: exciting and educational. |
August 11: Liberation bread and the taste of freedom
Children bake their own Swedish white bread, visit the exhibition with a suitcase full of objects and take home the recipes of war time and liberation time. Age group 10-12. Programme from 2-4 pm. Reservations required. |

August 22: Open guided tour
Open guided tour at 2 and 3 pm through the temporary exhibition 'Krabbels and klodders'. Reservation required. |
August 25: Spy-training
Follow an emergency-course how to become a spy. Children's programme from 2-4 pm on spying and cryptography in war time. Age group 6-12. Reservation required. |
August 29: A taste of freedom!
Freedom à la carte. Non-stop demonstration and a taste of war time and liberation menu's from 2-5 pm: cichoray coffee, liquorice, liberation bread, syrup soldiers etc. |
September 1: Film for kids
Non-stop film programme from 2-4 pm for kids from 8-15 years old: exciting and educating. |
September 5: Cineac
Non-stop filmprogramme from 2-4 pm with great historical documentaries from the '40's. |
September 12: Battlefield Bicycle Tour
In connection with the liberation of Nijmegen in September 1944 we offer a guided battlefield bicycle tour (on your own bike) on the WW2 battlefields in and around Nijmegen. Starting point: the statue of 'Mariken van Nimwegen', Grote Markt, Nijmegen centre. Length of tour: 1-4.30 pm. Participation fee: € 9,50 pp. Reservations required. |
September 17: Eyewitness accounts of Nijmegen in the Frontline
Eyewitnesses tell their stories within the framework of Nijmegen in the Frontline. Personal stories by living eyewitnesses about the difficult periode between September 1944 and March 1945, accompanied by contemporary music. Start programme 7.30 pm. Admission fee € 4,50. Reservations required. |
September 19: 'Remember September' Liberation Festival
Liberation festival with a colourful children's fleamarket from 10.30-5 pm on the museum grounds with many activities and a musical programme for adults also. It is also possible to join the Euregio Freedom Walk, a walking tour covering the Market Garden area and a visit to the museum. |
September 26: Open guided tour
Open guided tour through the temporary exhibition 'Krabbels & Klodders'at 2 and 3 pm. Reservation required. |

In remembrance of Poppy Day November 11. A non-stop filmprogramme and special displays with poppy-products in the museum shop. |
November 9: Commemoration of the 'Kristallnacht'
Lecture, film and music starting at 8 pm, museum open at 7.30 pm (reservations required). |
November 21: Swedish White Bread Day
Non-stop filmprogramme from 12-4 pm of the documentary 'Manna' and free taste of Swedish white bread for all visitors. |
December 10: Human Rights Day
A special programme starting at 8 pm, more information will follow a.s.a.p. |
