About us

From history came forth a modern museum, situated in Groesbeek between hills and woods and located at one of the most beautiful spots in the Netherlands (in the vicinity of Arnhem, Nijmegen and the German border). History is brought back to life again at the Liberation Museum 1944-1945.

Mission

The National Liberation Museum 1944-1945 is an historical museum covering the liberation of the Netherlands in 1944 and 1945, the events leading up to it and the consequences thereof in a regional and international perspective. The museum not only remembers, but also wants to keep the liberation story alive in a modern way and be a permanent reminder, especially for Europe’s young people, against fascism, discrimination and intolerance.
The NLM is affiliated with the NMW and is classified as a Registered Museum.
